Costco Free Samples to Return in June
After ending free samples in Costco stores in March due to Coronavirus COVID-19 concerns, they’re resuming. While most stores closed, Costco was one of the few deemed essential and remained open during the pandemic. Now, they’re planning to start offering free sample stations at their warehouse stores again.
Costco Free Samples Are Back
Announced during a company earnings call on Thursday, Costco shared its plans to reinstate free food samples for customers starting in mid-June — with some changes.
“We’re going to start doing some things in mid-June on a slow rollout basis in sampling,” Costco chief financial officer Richard Galanti said during the call. “I can’t tell you anymore, but needless to say it’s not going to be where you go and just pick up an open sample with your fingers.”
Of course, Costco temporarily suspended their free sample giveaways in March over concerns of transmitting the highly contagious coronavirus.
“I think you’ll see a little bit more excitement on the roadshow side,” Galanti said calling the samples and events “things that we can do to get people excited about coming in.”
Costco’s COVID-19 Precautions
Costco is one of many stores requiring all customers to wear a mask in order to be allowed to enter and shop in store.
“There are a few people who don’t like it but most people do,” Galenti said Thursday about the mask requirement.
