If you’re wondering what to get Dad for Father’s day, read this. It could save you from making a huge blunder shopping for your guy.
First, not all dads wear ties. And, even if they do they probably don’t want another one for Fathers Day. Don’t get me wrong, we really do appreciate the thought.
More often than not, Dad is a simple guy who doesn’t require much. At least, that’s what tv and radio commercials imply. Who is the goofy guy who just doesn’t get it? Dad. Who is the one who might not live to see another day because he can’t do things for himself (like cook)? Dad.
The point I’m trying to make is that Dad is probably not the simpleton they make him out to be. He may just have something in mind that he wants for Father’s day. And it’s probably not something you can buy in the underwear department.
I’m a pretty regular guy. I like to play with electronics. I went so far as to get a degree in it so I could get paid for my hobby. Then I did the Man thing and taught my son the trade. Actually, both of my sons love gadgets. One is a pilot and the other is an engineer. Now that I think of it, not many guys I know don’t love electronics.
I’m going to make a bold statement here. This year, instead of buying Dad socks, why not check out the newest e-thang he’s had his eye on? Is it the iLive? The iPad 2? I bet he wouldn’t say ‘no’ to either! But if that’s not in the budget, there are plenty of other awesome finds just down the street – at your local Walmart.
Here are a few suggestions from Mr. Gimmie:
iLive: If yours is an iDad, he is guaranteed to love a speaker system from iLive. You can plug an iPhone or various iPods in and listen LARGE.
iPad 2: Guys aren’t the only one who will love a shiny new iPad 2! Even sleeker and faster than its predecessor, this new version is a must for Angry Birds fans and egg heads alike.
Surround Sound: Ultimately, the Dad with the most toys wins, and if his home theater is more like mystery theater, I guarantee he wants one.
GPS: You can’t go wrong with a GPS navigation system. Free your guy from ever having to ask for directions again. It’s against the Bro Code, you know.
Flat Panel Monitor: Or, how about a newer, bigger flat panel monitor for his computer? Better still, they have screaming fast laptops on Rollback!!
If that stuff is more than the kids’ pooled allowances, how about a new set of ear buds or a new case for his phone or iPod?
Or even the latest video game! Because nothing says Dad time like a hot session of Rock Band with his kids!
I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Dad Central Consulting on behalf of Walmart and received a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.
