What is a class action lawsuit settlement?
A class-action lawsuit is one with multiple plaintiffs. In other words, there are more than one person being represented by the lawsuit. Oftentimes a plaintiff or plaintiffs file the case on behalf of many people who were affected by aren’t involved in the actual suit. For example, if you purchased an item that was later determined to be involved in a class-action lawsuit, you may be entitled to compensation.
If you’re included in the class or group of people affected, then you can file a claim to receive money, coupons or replacement products. Each case is different, and each will specify who is included.
In addition, class action lawsuits may require proof that you are part of the group of affected people. In this case, proof of purchase or other specified proof is needed. However, in some cases, no proof is required. In that case, you can file a claim without proving that you are part of the class of people affected. Of course, when you file a claim you are doing so under penalty of perjury. So, do not file if you do not qualify.

What’s this settlement about?
The lawsuit alleges that certain cereals were labeled as healthy, however, these cereals were deemed unhealthy due to their added sugar content.
What Products are Included? Where were they sold?
The Class Products include certain varieties and sizes of Post Raisin Bran, Post Bran Flakes, Post Selects – Blueberry Morning, Great Grains, Honey Bunches of Oats, Honey Bunches of Granola, Shredded Wheat, Alpha-Bits, Golden Crisp, Honeycomb, and Waffle Crisp. Who is eligible for a refund?
If you purchased any of the Post cereals listed in this settlement between Aug. 29, 2012, and Nov. 2, 2020, then you are eligible.
Is a receipt required?
If you do not have receipts, then you can still file a claim.
How much will I get back?
- Class Members submitting a valid claim form are expected to receive an average payment of $14.28; however, the actual amount will depend on the number of claims made and each claimant’s purchase history.
- Class Members who submit claims without proof of purchase will be subject to per-product caps based on an average use of four boxes per month. Estimated $14.00.
- Claims submitted with proof of purchase will not be capped.
- Class Members have the option of receiving their payout via PayPal, Venmo, or a prepaid MasterCard.
When will I get my check?
They have not set an exact date yet.
What’s the deadline to file a claim?
The deadline to file online is 05/19/2021 and if mailed, must be postmarked no later than 5/19/21
