Sears / Kmart Stores Quietly Closing Locations – WE HAVE THE WHOLE LIST!
If you shop at Sears or Kmart, then take note! Because, they’re quietly closing stores without even telling some employees. But, we have the list. Look for liquidation sales to start immediately.
Is Sears & Kmart Going Out of Business?
As Forbes reported, It almost seemed like Kmart was having a second wind. As most retailers were shuttered due to quarantine restrictions, the legendary discount store remained open and was deemed essential. But as retailers slowly reopen, Kmart has returned to a “business-as-usual” format. Unfortunately that format includes shrinking stocks and closing stores. It appears as though 30 or 40 Kmart locations are all that remain.
According to Businesswire, Trasformco, owner of Sears and Kmart, terminated several leases for stores on June 3. However, they aren’t specifying which locations will be shuttered. They did say that the leases needed to be terminated “in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.” In other words, the Company will terminate the lease at 12 stores.
So, which Stores are Closing?
Although Transformco didn’t specifically name the store closing locations, my research shows that Kmart began closing sales in locations from North Dakota to New Hampshire two weeks ago. These stores are scheduled to permanently close no later than August 30.
What’s so secret about it? Transformco, Sears and Kmart have not announced which locations they plan to shutter. There have been no official press releases or announcements.
So, I did some detective work and found that Sears and Kmart are hiring temporary workers for “Store Closings”. Therefore, these listings are giving away the “secret” locations of Sears and Kmart stores they are planning to close. And, I put together a list for you.
Employees Weren’t Notified
Reports indicate that many Kmart employees learned of their store’s destiny when they searched Transformco’s “Jobs” website. The website listed “Temporary Cashier – Store Closing” positions before employees were notified. How sad is that?!
Our hearts go out to the employees affected by these shutdowns. And, to the consumers who rely on these stores.
