It is critical to be prepared ahead of time so you don’t have to make judgement calls after drinking. One of the best ways to be prepared is to know your options for alternative transportation, such as this free sober cab on new years.
Please know that you DON’T have to DRIVE DRUNK! There are many alternatives, and it’s never a good idea. in 2011, approximately 10,500 people died in alcohol-impaired-driving crashes. Historically, holiday periods have shown higher incidences of alcohol-impaired driving crashes, so whether you’re at a holiday party, a New Year’s Eve bash at a bar or reveling with friends, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Ad Council are reminding everyone that the best way to stay safe is to plan ahead and designate a sober driver before you head out for your festivities.Want to help spread the word about the dangers of buzzed driving? How many is too many drinks?
Not sure if you’ve had too much to drink? According to this blood–alcohol calculator, having two strong drinks within about an hour would put a 150 lb person over the legal limit. Generally speaking, a “shot” of alcohol is an ounce. A “jigger” is 1.5 oz. Many establishments put more than a jigger in each cocktail, especially drinks containing more than one type of alcohol. For example, certain recipes of Long Island Ice Tea contain FIVE different liquors, equaling up to 7.5 oz of alcohol per drink! A 125 lb person who drinks this tall Long Island in an hour could be twice the legal limit at .16! The legal limit is under .08 in all 50 states.

Rule of thumb: if you’ve had anything to drink, let someone else drive!!
